Thanks guys, I'm glad I'm not the only one not in love with her.

Pat, I re-read (for the umpteenth time) Samantha's books over Christmas break and of course read Nellie's too. I honestly don't care for Samantha's books that much...her books are really low on my list. I thought Nellie's was even worse. I don't know what it was but something was missing from the story for me. So, it's not just her appearance, but her character over all (I know, I know..sacriledge!). The only reason Samantha is here is because I've had her so long and I would definately feel bad having her move out!

Susan, good for you for being able to part with a doll that you can't bond with! There are so many AG items and dolls, that I'm sure you could put that money toward something you would enjoy more!!

We have all of the historicals now, and some I definately like more than others, but I can't bear to part with any of them, not that DD would allow that anyway!!LOL!!

Sometimes I wish I could be more selective, it would save us space and money, but I can't help myself- I want them all!! I know some I won't collect anything for other than clothes, but I like having all the dolls that have stories!!

Good Luck with your decision, I know I haven't been much help!

I don't like her looks either. Jecca's Nellie is much cuter and looks more like the newer illustrations. Her Nellie is AGT with brown hair and blue eyes with a haircut and a Nellie style dress. Sorry you still don't like her!

Nellie is next on my list, and if I don't get her by my birthday in late April that's what I'm asking for (even though I need a new computer more, lol) from my parents. I think she's adorable and can't wait to see her in person.

And I've been able to connect with all my dolls so far. It does help reading the books, I agree. Haven't read Marisol's yet, but I still love her beauty.

Judi...you should definately get Nellie. We feel the same way about the little girl who plays Nellie in the movie. She's just adorable.

Molly thinks she's the cutest thing!

Nellie is basically my look alike, too. Except that my eyes alternate between blue and blue green. Also...Nellie hasn't had to add any highlights to her hair to cover those nasty gray ones. And the freckles???? Got those, too.

I don't think of my Nellie doll as a red head, either. She's more of a Strawberry blonde, like me.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Jenny, maybe Nellie would have needed the highlights at our age too, but I don't know if they did them in the 1930's. I always loved the term "strawberry blonde" it's really cute.

I know sometimes it's hard to bond with a doll, but it can occassionally take a little longer, and then it's 'bing' and all of a sudden it's there.
